About Ros Goody

A love of the countryside and an appreciation of beauty....

Ros' StudioRos Goody has been drawing for as long as she can remember.  Her first artistic memory is of drawing horses and by the age of 11 she was sketching her friends’ ponies at pony club in rural Shropshire, England. Encouraged by family and teachers to pursue her love of drawing and painting beyond school she went to Shrewsbury School of Art in 1963. Here she found confidence in herself and brought together the various techniques with which she had experimented. “Whichever medium you use, charcoal, chalk, paint or pen and ink – if you can’t draw the basic form, it won’t work.”

A BBC publisher saw her work and commissioned some drawings for a publication. From this beginning Ros started to exhibit and slowly to realise an income. She was exhibiting throughout England from the mid 1970’s onwards and by the late 1980’s was making a living from her art. After making a name for herself and exhibiting successfully at leading galleries throughout England, Ros migrated to Australia in 1990 and has quickly established a name on the art scene in her new country. She works from a studio at her home near the Blue Mountains in New South Wales.

Ros now spends her time between England and Australia, painting and exhibiting in both countries.
